“August, die she must” was Simon & Garfunkel’s take on the oncoming autumn every year. But before the summer fades away into rain and falling leaves, august always leaves us with some treats. This year, next to the usual festivals, shows and vacations, the month started out with a personal peak for me.

On the 1st of august our friend Romée of d’Room Music held her first party called ‘MINT’ @ Canvas, Amsterdam. This was a special event for 2 reasons: Comfort Fit would be the headlining artist of the evening and I was asked to open the party with a live-set of my own work.

The other acts of the evening were Erjee ft. Carl G. (DROP) and Phaze (Dynamite Soul DJ Team). The night was filled with funky music, the performances were awesome and the floor was packed! All in all a good start for the MINT party which hopefully will get a sequel. Massive thanks must go out to Comfort Fit for helping me out with my equipment ‘problems’.

One week later the 16th installment of Blocsonic was released. The netBlocs (as the monthly compilations are called) consist of 10 tracks from various internet-sources and are all freely available for download. In stead of aiming at style or genre, Blocsonic boasts that they “exist for the sole purpose of filtering through the mountains of freely available net-audio” and therefor bringing you only the finest productions.

All releases come with a .PDF containing info about the artists, and high quality images of a complete CD cover/booklet/tray so you can make a nice hardcopy of your favorite release

On this ‘Sweet Sixteen’ netBloc I had the privilige to be featured with the track I recently donated to iD.EOLOGY for their ‘Because Best Things Are Free‘ release. The other tracks range from singer/songwriter, jazz, pop, rock to funky house. My 2 favorite tracks on this high-quality compilation are Monk Turner’s 808 driven hiphop track with rock influences and catchy hooks ‘Hot July’ and ‘Like The Very First Kiss’ by Elias Damian, a sweet disco’ish house track laced with autotuned vocals.
